But when I think about what I can do now that I couldn't do 6 months ago, it's worth it. The pain, the sweat, it's worth it. 'Simply put if you are scared or apprehensive to try crossfit that is the very reason you should. Crossfit will not only make you feel better physically it will also develop a sense of accomplishments for each little step you complete. These accomplishments enhance your self confidence, thus eliminating the apprehension you carried through the door. 'I used to sit and think that I wanted to be skinny, i wanted to see a certain number on the scale and then id be happy. Now I know thats not what I want, I don't want to be skinny, I want to be fit. I want to lift more than I ever have, I want to run faster and farther, I want to be able to do strict pull ups without a struggle. And you know what every day I get closer to this goal and one day I wont care if that number on the scale is higher than I want it to be, because Ill be in the best shape of my life. Ill never be able to thank my mom and sister enough for making me go to that first saturday morning CrossFit class, because each time I go I feel better and better about myself. 'I used to be almost obsessed with the number I saw on the scale and I was never happy with it. It started to control my life. Then, after many months of thinking about trying crossfit, I finally found the courage to give it a go, and man am I glad I did! I've found that I care less about the number on the scale, and more about the number of reps I can do. 'I was in a difficult place before I started at Big Four, I was very angry about things I wasn't able to change and just let it drag me down. I only ate junk food, I didn't care what I put in my body and all I ever wanted to do was sleep. I finally got into lifting on my own and it was my release from everything. But after about a year of working and losing weight I lost the urge to go. I had no one to push me. No one to tell me to push harder because they knew I could do more. Starting at Big Four was completely out of my comfort zone. I wasn't a very social person anymore and I didn't know a single person. I took the leap the first week I emailed about starting and found it amazing. The support is unbelievable and so uplifting. These people that I was so terrified to workout with were pushing me and telling me I could do it. I was hooked. I can't express enough how much I love my crossfit family and what they've done for me. I wake up everyday and get excited to see what I get to do that day. 'One year ago today I went my 1st Crossfit class without any idea of where the first step of this journey would lead me. I was nervous & prayed that my super self-conscious self wouldn't feel like the only plus size chica at the gym. That 1st week was exhilarating! Sure I was sore and could barely walk for a week but the BFCF environment was so positive & uplifting & I felt so accomplished. Now ONE year, a billion squats, FOURTY-TWO lost pounds, lots of tears (of both frustration & joy), FIVE dropped dress sizes, lots of bruises & callouses, a handful of CF competitions, PRs in nearly every lifting category and my FIRST ever Warrior Dash later I am still going strong! Sometimes we just have to take a minute & remind ourselves how far we've come! My journey isn't over & I have more goals to reach but I refuse to go backward!
Thanks to the Good Lord for keeping me thru it all. Thanks to my family & friends that have encouraged me along the way. And, of course, thank you, Big Four Crossfit!

'I have been doing Crossfit now for 4 months and I've never felt better! I was so hesitant to start because I was no where close to the shape I was in pre-baby, but in just these short 4 months my confidence has sky rocketed and I've surprised myself quite a few times with what I've accomplished. I can't talk enough about the people I'm surrounded by there. From setting astounding examples to their words of encouragement and help, I always find myself pushing just a little harder than I thought possible. 'I just want to shout out loud. I started doing CrossFit a month ago. It is the best workout, and the most amazing experience. And if I can do it you can too! So if you have been thinking of trying it out, do it! I am not usually the type of person who gets excited by anything enough to recommend it to people, and put it on Facebook. Infact I have probably only posted about 5or 6 things ever. But this I fully recommend! I have wasted good money on a gym membership I never used. I knew if I went back to the gym it would be money down the drain. I have also wasted big bucks on a home gym that collected dust. So I was sceptical if I would do this. I know it has only been a little over a month but I believe I will do this as long as I can. Hopefully the rest of my life. I have new goals ,and I actually look forward to going to work out. I have never enjoyed working out. This is the first time I have ever enjoyed going to work out. So if your like me , and I know some of you are lol. Give CrossFit a try!' ~Bob Masson
